it's official!! (almost)

on friday afternoon, we frolicked to the fulton county courthouse to get our marriage license. and if it wasn't real before, it certainly is now. gasp! the excitement and anticipation are rapidly growing. and it's overwhelming just thinking about seeing all of my favorite people in just 4 short weeks!

ps- happy 2nd birthday to the cutest thing we ever did meet, our pup, bella!

getting close!

david here. hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. unfortunately, i'm sitting here at work typing this. but the good news is... six weeks from yesterday the big day arrives. rsvp's are trickling in, details are being combed over, and excitement & stress levels are rising. the next month is going to be one big happy, chaotic blur for us and our families. oh, and the reception is shaping up to be one big, crazy, happy party y'all. :)

thanks to everyone who has already rsvp'd and to those who've visited our registry. it truly means a lot to us. we are so lucky and thankful for all the love and support.

more to come on the blog. just wanted to check in and say hello.

bella, our pup, can sense all of the excitement. can you tell?

happy birthday mom!

dave here. the date is getting closer. this past weekend my folks got together with radhi's folks and went through some details of the ceremony and watched a video of siva's (radhi's brother) wedding. this type of wedding ceremony is new to me and my family, so we are learning as much as we can before the big day. we hoped to get pictures of the day to share... i even brought my camera, and dr. mohan had his laying out too. but neither of us snapped any. oops.

radhi's mom cooked an amazing lunch for us. this is one perk of marrying into an indian family that i can definitely get used to. :)

speaking of moms, today is my mom's birthday. happy birthday when you read this mom. i love you. we'll be dining out somewhere nice tonight. i'm looking forward to it.

that's all for now. bye.

bangles.

bangles are the perfect display of all the vibrant and beautiful color that we are lucky to be surrounded by throughout the planning. plus, it was just so nice of my parents to travel all around india to find the brand that is my namesake. wink, wink!

*onto more important matters. i can't go without saying a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to arjun, the coolest and most loveable nine-year-old i know...especially when he's holding a cute, little bunny rabbit!

in the workshop.

a belated happy 4th to you! hope everyone had a lovely and restful weekend!

bammagaru (my dad's mom), ammamma (my mom's mom), dad, mom, and i worked on a few wedding projects this afternoon. at one point, dad commented that he felt like he was in a factory workshop. i guess it did kind of feel like that, but definitely in a fun, happy way. i'm just lucky that they humor me with some of my off the wall and (extremely!) time-consuming ideas!

let them eat cupcakes!

one thing we've agreed on is cupcakes for our reception dessert. yum. over the weekend, along with david's parents, we visited a couple of bakeries to taste test. even though i'm not a sweets person, this has definitely been one of the most fun planning moments so far. all in a hard day's work for our guests. wink. hopefully we'll at least pick the right flavors for you! {ps-d's for red velvet, r's for carrot. we'll see what happens!}

one of many decisions.

here's just a small but lovely sample of the invitations we've seen so far. i've always loved the colors and designs of indian wedding invitations, so i'm eager to choose just the right one for us!

happy weekend!

wheels in motion

Here's my first post on the blog. The wheels are in motion. We're both starting to feel a little overwhelmed, but happy at the same time. It looks as though we've nailed down a date, thanks to the way our stars align. October 17th is the day and, from what I've been told, this is a very good sign. I'm starting to slowly learn about all that is involved with these big Indian weddings. It's all new to me, but I'm taking it one step at a time. The first thing coming up is an engagement ceremony (puja) on March 25th. A small gathering of close family and a blessing from the priest. We've also started looking at reception locations and we have a few in mind, one we even got a tour of today that Radhi and I both really love. More updates soon. I just wanted to make my first post on here. (image source)

the beginning...

we have lots of dreams for our big day(s), but most can't be seriously thought about until we set the actual date. for now, we have a few, general ideas. but i'm sure these will change too. at least we're flexible, right?
:: late fall in atlanta
:: hindu ceremony at temple
:: different day reception (nope, same day!)
:: lots of d.i.y. craftiness
:: honeymoon train trip (nope, but something just as good!)
:: and most importantly, good times with our loved ones!
